About
This site is a response to the 2008 AAA Society for Visual Anthropology call for papers. To quote Whitney Quesenbery and the premise of her upcoming book, “We’re all familiar with the power of storytelling… (let’s use it) alongside other, more conventional research and design methods.”
The form of storytelling this site wishes to explore revolves around personas. Personas are intended to bring to life groups of users to design teams and clients. We have made an attempt through the use of miniatures to make that process more engaging and interesting to those parties. This is a work in process and by its very nature is rough.
Much of this site’s content explores the cultural relevance and underpinnings of using miniatures. As time elapses, miniatures will no longer be the best tool to utilize, but the larger point is that there will be other culturally relevant tools that should be employed in new forms of research gathering and storytelling.
The persona utilizing the miniature and live photography was made by my colleague at Worrell Research, Ryan Sohlden. There has also been a clear attempt to credit other content where applicable.
Thanks and enjoy.
